# Send Building Automation Alerts to Text on Any Phone

When a commercial HVAC control faults or a building system goes into alarm, your building automation system already knows. The problem is how it tells you. Using TextBolt’s [email to text gateway](https://textbolt.com/solutions/email-to-text-service/), those BAS and HVAC alerts become text messages, so the on-call technician gets the alarm on their phone in seconds instead of an email nobody is watching. Works with any system that sends email. No new hardware, no app to install.

## Why BAS Email Alerts Get Missed

Building automation systems are excellent at detecting problems and poor at making sure a human sees them in time. For time-sensitive equipment faults, email leaves dangerous gaps.

<svg class="lucide lucide-bell-off" fill="none" height="44" viewbox="0 0 44 44" width="44" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><rect fill="url(#paint0_linear_2000)" height="44" rx="8" width="44"></rect><g fill="none" stroke="#DC2626" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" stroke-width="2" transform="translate(10,10)"><path d="M9 4a4 4 0 0 1 4 4v3l1 1.5h-10L5 12V8a4 4 0 0 1 4-4z"></path><path d="M7.5 16a1.5 1.5 0 0 0 3 0"></path><path d="M22 8a3 3 0 1 1-3-3 2.4 2.4 0 0 0 3 3z"></path></g><defs><stop stop-color="#FEF2F2"></stop><stop offset="1" stop-color="#FEE2E2"></stop></defs></svg>

### After-Hours Alerts Go Unseen

Nobody watches a shared facilities inbox at midnight or over a long weekend, which is exactly when unattended equipment fails and damage runs unchecked.

<svg class="lucide lucide-mail-warning" fill="none" height="44" viewbox="0 0 44 44" width="44" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><rect fill="url(#paint0_linear_2001)" height="44" rx="8" width="44"></rect><g fill="none" stroke="#DC2626" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" stroke-width="2" transform="translate(10,10)"><rect height="15" rx="1" width="20" x="2" y="5"></rect><polyline points="2 6 12 14 22 6"></polyline></g><defs><stop stop-color="#FEF2F2"></stop><stop offset="1" stop-color="#FEE2E2"></stop></defs></svg>

### Critical Alarms Buried in Email

A technician with a full inbox will not notice the one critical building automation alert among routine status mail. Critical BAS alerts disappear into the noise.

<svg class="lucide lucide-user-cog" fill="none" height="44" viewbox="0 0 44 44" width="44" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><rect fill="url(#paint0_linear_2002)" height="44" rx="8" width="44"></rect><g fill="none" stroke="#DC2626" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" stroke-width="2" transform="translate(10,10)"><circle cx="8" cy="7" r="3"></circle><path d="M3 19v-1a4 4 0 0 1 4-4h2a4 4 0 0 1 4 4v1"></path><circle cx="17" cy="14" r="2.5"></circle></g><defs><stop stop-color="#FEF2F2"></stop><stop offset="1" stop-color="#FEE2E2"></stop></defs></svg>

### One Person Holds the BAS Login

Only one technician has the dashboard credentials, so when they are asleep, sick, or on vacation, the alarm reaches nobody who can act on it.

<svg class="lucide lucide-mail-off" fill="none" height="44" viewbox="0 0 44 44" width="44" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><rect fill="url(#paint0_linear_2003)" height="44" rx="8" width="44"></rect><g fill="none" stroke="#DC2626" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" stroke-width="2" transform="translate(10,10)"><rect height="14" rx="1" width="18" x="3" y="5"></rect><polyline points="3 6 12 13 21 6"></polyline></g><defs><stop stop-color="#FEF2F2"></stop><stop offset="1" stop-color="#FEE2E2"></stop></defs></svg>

### No Urgency Signal in Email

A routine status digest and a flooded mechanical room look identical in an inbox. A phone buzzing at 2 AM does not, so the truly critical fault stands out.

<svg class="lucide lucide-alert-gauge" fill="none" height="44" viewbox="0 0 44 44" width="44" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><rect fill="url(#paint0_linear_2004)" height="44" rx="8" width="44"></rect><g fill="none" stroke="#DC2626" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" stroke-width="2" transform="translate(10,10)"><circle cx="12" cy="12" r="4"></circle><polyline points="9 10 11 12 9 14"></polyline><polyline points="15 10 13 12 15 14"></polyline></g><defs><stop stop-color="#FEF2F2"></stop><stop offset="1" stop-color="#FEE2E2"></stop></defs></svg>

### Slow Response Means Equipment Damage

Waiting for someone to spot an alert in a dashboard costs precious minutes. With commercial HVAC and building control faults, minutes translate directly into damage.

<svg class="lucide lucide-mail-question" fill="none" height="44" viewbox="0 0 44 44" width="44" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><rect fill="url(#paint0_linear_2005)" height="44" rx="8" width="44"></rect><g fill="none" stroke="#DC2626" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" stroke-width="2" transform="translate(10,10)"><circle cx="9" cy="7" r="3"></circle><path d="M3 19v-1a4 4 0 0 1 4-4h4a4 4 0 0 1 4 4v1"></path><path d="M19 4a3 3 0 0 1 3 3c0 2-3 5-3 5s-3-3-3-5a3 3 0 0 1 3-3z"></path><circle cx="19" cy="7" r="0.8"></circle></g><defs><stop stop-color="#FEF2F2"></stop><stop offset="1" stop-color="#FEE2E2"></stop></defs></svg>

### Field Techs Are Not at a Desk

On-call staff are on the road or on a roof, nowhere near a workstation. A text reaches them on the one device they always carry: their phone.

Solution

## How TextBolt Delivers BAS Alerts as Text

TextBolt sits between your building automation system and your team’s phones. Your BAS keeps emailing alerts exactly as it does today, and TextBolt converts each one into an SMS that actually gets read.

<svg class="lucide lucide-zap" fill="none" height="44" viewbox="0 0 44 44" width="44" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><rect fill="url(#paint0_linear_2100)" height="44" rx="8" width="44"></rect><g fill="none" stroke="#2B73DB" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" stroke-width="2" transform="translate(10,10)"><polygon points="14 2 4 14 11 14 9 22 20 10 13 10 14 2"></polygon></g><defs><stop stop-color="#EFF6FF"></stop><stop offset="1" stop-color="#DBEAFE"></stop></defs></svg>

### Instant SMS Delivery

Building automation alerts arrive as text in seconds. Your technician gets the alarm on their phone immediately, not buried in a dashboard or email queue.

<svg class="lucide lucide-plus" fill="none" height="44" viewbox="0 0 44 44" width="44" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><rect fill="url(#paint0_linear_2101)" height="44" rx="8" width="44"></rect><g fill="none" stroke="#2B73DB" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" stroke-width="2" transform="translate(10,10)"></g><defs><stop stop-color="#EFF6FF"></stop><stop offset="1" stop-color="#DBEAFE"></stop></defs></svg>

### Works With Any System That Emails

BAS, direct digital controls, commercial HVAC controls, access control, and monitoring tools. If it can send an email alert, it works with TextBolt. No API or developer work.

<svg class="lucide lucide-users-multi" fill="none" height="44" viewbox="0 0 44 44" width="44" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><rect fill="url(#paint0_linear_2102)" height="44" rx="8" width="44"></rect><g fill="none" stroke="#2B73DB" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" stroke-width="2" transform="translate(10,10)"><circle cx="9" cy="8" r="3"></circle><path d="M3 19v-1a4 4 0 0 1 4-4h4a4 4 0 0 1 4 4v1"></path><circle cx="17" cy="9" r="2.5"></circle><path d="M16 13h2a3 3 0 0 1 3 3v1"></path></g><defs><stop stop-color="#EFF6FF"></stop><stop offset="1" stop-color="#DBEAFE"></stop></defs></svg>

### Multi-User Access: Up to 10 Team Members

The Standard plan includes up to 10 team members. One shared business number for your whole facilities team, admin plus co-workers on the same account. See the [TextBolt pricing page](https://textbolt.com/pricing/) for plan details.

<svg class="lucide lucide-mouse-pointer-click" fill="none" height="44" viewbox="0 0 44 44" width="44" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><rect fill="url(#paint0_linear_2103)" height="44" rx="8" width="44"></rect><g fill="none" stroke="#2B73DB" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" stroke-width="2" transform="translate(10,10)"><path d="M5 3l5 13 2-5 5-2z"></path></g><defs><stop stop-color="#EFF6FF"></stop><stop offset="1" stop-color="#DBEAFE"></stop></defs></svg>

### One-Click System Sender Setup

Most BAS platforms send from a no-reply address that cannot click an invite link. TextBolt has a one-click path to authorize those system senders on the spot.

<svg class="lucide lucide-clipboard-check" fill="none" height="44" viewbox="0 0 44 44" width="44" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><rect fill="url(#paint0_linear_2104)" height="44" rx="8" width="44"></rect><g fill="none" stroke="#2B73DB" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" stroke-width="2" transform="translate(10,10)"><rect height="17" rx="2" width="14" x="5" y="4"></rect><path d="M9 4V3a1 1 0 0 1 1-1h4a1 1 0 0 1 1 1v1"></path><polyline points="9 12 11 14 15 10"></polyline></g><defs><stop stop-color="#EFF6FF"></stop><stop offset="1" stop-color="#DBEAFE"></stop></defs></svg>

### Complete Audit Trail

Every alert text is logged with status, timestamp, and sender. Review delivery history and failures in the dashboard without standing up a separate system.

<svg class="lucide lucide-server-off" fill="none" height="44" viewbox="0 0 44 44" width="44" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><rect fill="url(#paint0_linear_2105)" height="44" rx="8" width="44"></rect><g fill="none" stroke="#2B73DB" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" stroke-width="2" transform="translate(10,10)"><rect height="7" rx="1" width="16" x="4" y="3"></rect><rect height="7" rx="1" width="16" x="4" y="14"></rect></g><defs><stop stop-color="#EFF6FF"></stop><stop offset="1" stop-color="#DBEAFE"></stop></defs></svg>

### No New Hardware or Software

You do not replace or reconfigure your automation logic. Point its alert emails at the TextBolt gateway and the alarms simply start arriving as text.

Getting Started

## Set Up Building Automation Alerts

Once your business is verified, the configuration itself takes about 30 minutes. No developer required and no changes to your control sequences.

<svg fill="none" height="44" viewbox="0 0 44 44" width="44" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><rect fill="url(#paint0_linear_2200)" height="44" rx="8" width="44"></rect><text fill="#DC2626" font-family="ui-sans-serif, system-ui, sans-serif" font-size="18" font-weight="700" text-anchor="middle" x="22" y="28">1</text><defs><stop stop-color="#FEF2F2"></stop><stop offset="1" stop-color="#FEE2E2"></stop></defs></svg>

### Sign Up and Verify Your Business

Create your account and complete 10DLC business verification. US carriers require it before any business can send SMS. It typically takes 1 to 2 business days.

<svg fill="none" height="44" viewbox="0 0 44 44" width="44" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><rect fill="url(#paint0_linear_2201)" height="44" rx="8" width="44"></rect><text fill="#DC2626" font-family="ui-sans-serif, system-ui, sans-serif" font-size="18" font-weight="700" text-anchor="middle" x="22" y="28">2</text><defs><stop stop-color="#FEF2F2"></stop><stop offset="1" stop-color="#FEE2E2"></stop></defs></svg>

### Authorize Your BAS Sender

Add your building automation system’s sending address as a one-click system sender so its alert emails are allowed through the gateway.

<svg fill="none" height="44" viewbox="0 0 44 44" width="44" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><rect fill="url(#paint0_linear_2202)" height="44" rx="8" width="44"></rect><text fill="#DC2626" font-family="ui-sans-serif, system-ui, sans-serif" font-size="18" font-weight="700" text-anchor="middle" x="22" y="28">3</text><defs><stop stop-color="#FEF2F2"></stop><stop offset="1" stop-color="#FEE2E2"></stop></defs></svg>

### Point Alerts at the Gateway

Configure your BAS to send alerts to the gateway address (the technician’s number at sendemailtotext.com) for each recipient who should get the text.

<svg fill="none" height="44" viewbox="0 0 44 44" width="44" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><rect fill="url(#paint0_linear_2203)" height="44" rx="8" width="44"></rect><text fill="#DC2626" font-family="ui-sans-serif, system-ui, sans-serif" font-size="18" font-weight="700" text-anchor="middle" x="22" y="28">4</text><defs><stop stop-color="#FEF2F2"></stop><stop offset="1" stop-color="#FEE2E2"></stop></defs></svg>

### Send a Test Alarm

Trigger a test alert from your BAS and confirm the SMS lands on the right phone within seconds.

<svg fill="none" height="44" viewbox="0 0 44 44" width="44" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><rect fill="url(#paint0_linear_2204)" height="44" rx="8" width="44"></rect><text fill="#DC2626" font-family="ui-sans-serif, system-ui, sans-serif" font-size="18" font-weight="700" text-anchor="middle" x="22" y="28">5</text><defs><stop stop-color="#FEF2F2"></stop><stop offset="1" stop-color="#FEE2E2"></stop></defs></svg>

### Add Your On-Call Team

Invite your facilities team (up to 10 on the Standard plan) so the right people receive alarms on their phones.

<svg fill="none" height="44" viewbox="0 0 44 44" width="44" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><rect fill="url(#paint0_linear_2205)" height="44" rx="8" width="44"></rect><text fill="#DC2626" font-family="ui-sans-serif, system-ui, sans-serif" font-size="18" font-weight="700" text-anchor="middle" x="22" y="28">6</text><defs><stop stop-color="#FEF2F2"></stop><stop offset="1" stop-color="#FEE2E2"></stop></defs></svg>

### Respond and Coordinate

Your facilities team gets the alert instantly and can reply by text. Replies land in a shared dashboard inbox so every BAS operator on rotation sees the response thread.

Process

## How Building Automation Alerts Work

<svg class="lucide lucide-server-rack" fill="none" height="44" viewbox="0 0 44 44" width="44" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><rect fill="url(#paint0_linear_2300)" height="44" rx="8" width="44"></rect><g fill="none" stroke="#2B73DB" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" stroke-width="2" transform="translate(10,10)"><rect height="18" rx="1" width="14" x="3" y="3"></rect></g><defs><stop stop-color="#EFF6FF"></stop><stop offset="1" stop-color="#DBEAFE"></stop></defs></svg>

### BAS Detects a Fault

Your building automation system flags an equipment fault or alarm and triggers its normal alert email.

<svg class="lucide lucide-mail-gateway" fill="none" height="44" viewbox="0 0 44 44" width="44" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><rect fill="url(#paint0_linear_2301)" height="44" rx="8" width="44"></rect><g fill="none" stroke="#2B73DB" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" stroke-width="2" transform="translate(10,10)"><rect height="8" rx="1" width="10" x="7" y="7"></rect><polyline points="7 8 12 12 17 8"></polyline></g><defs><stop stop-color="#EFF6FF"></stop><stop offset="1" stop-color="#DBEAFE"></stop></defs></svg>

### Alert Email Hits the Gateway

The alert is addressed to the TextBolt gateway from your authorized BAS sender address, carrying the technician’s number.

<svg class="lucide lucide-smartphone-message" fill="none" height="44" viewbox="0 0 44 44" width="44" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><rect fill="url(#paint0_linear_2302)" height="44" rx="8" width="44"></rect><g fill="none" stroke="#2B73DB" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" stroke-width="2" transform="translate(10,10)"><rect height="20" rx="2" width="11" x="3" y="2"></rect><path d="M17 6a2 2 0 0 1 2 2v4a2 2 0 0 1-2 2h-2l-2 2v-2h0a2 2 0 0 1-2-2v-4a2 2 0 0 1 2-2z"></path></g><defs><stop stop-color="#EFF6FF"></stop><stop offset="1" stop-color="#DBEAFE"></stop></defs></svg>

### Technician Notified via SMS

TextBolt converts the email to a text and delivers it to the technician’s phone from your business number, usually within seconds.

Use Cases

## Who Uses Building Automation Alerts to Text

Any team responsible for keeping a building or its critical systems running, especially when no single person can watch every dashboard around the clock.

<svg class="lucide lucide-building-cog" fill="none" height="44" viewbox="0 0 44 44" width="44" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><rect fill="url(#paint0_linear_2400)" height="44" rx="8" width="44"></rect><g fill="none" stroke="#DC2626" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" stroke-width="2" transform="translate(10,10)"><rect height="18" rx="0.5" width="11" x="3" y="3"></rect><circle cx="18" cy="11" r="2"></circle><path d="M15 19v-1a3 3 0 0 1 3-3h0a3 3 0 0 1 3 3v1"></path></g><defs><stop stop-color="#FEF2F2"></stop><stop offset="1" stop-color="#FEE2E2"></stop></defs></svg>

### Facility Managers

Know the moment your building automation system flags a commercial HVAC control fault, especially outside business hours when the building is empty.

<svg class="lucide lucide-contractor" fill="none" height="44" viewbox="0 0 44 44" width="44" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><rect fill="url(#paint0_linear_2401)" height="44" rx="8" width="44"></rect><g fill="none" stroke="#DC2626" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" stroke-width="2" transform="translate(10,10)"><rect height="16" rx="0.5" width="13" x="2" y="5"></rect><path d="M22 6a2 2 0 0 1-2.8 2L17 10l-2-2 2-2.2A2 2 0 0 1 19.2 3 1.5 1.5 0 0 0 21 4.5a1.5 1.5 0 0 0 1 1.5z"></path></g><defs><stop stop-color="#FEF2F2"></stop><stop offset="1" stop-color="#FEE2E2"></stop></defs></svg>

### Building Automation Contractors

Offer your clients SMS alerting on top of the BAS and DDC controls you install and service, with no extra hardware to deploy.

### Property and Multi-Site Teams

Manage office buildings, condominiums, and portfolios where no one is watching every site. Route each building’s alarms to the right people.

<svg class="lucide lucide-hvac" fill="none" height="44" viewbox="0 0 44 44" width="44" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><rect fill="url(#paint0_linear_2403)" height="44" rx="8" width="44"></rect><g fill="none" stroke="#DC2626" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" stroke-width="2" transform="translate(10,10)"><rect height="18" rx="1" width="18" x="3" y="3"></rect><circle cx="12" cy="12" r="4"></circle><path d="M12 8c-1.5 0-2 1.5-2 3"></path><path d="M12 8c1.5 0 2 1.5 2 3"></path><path d="M8 12c0-1.5 1.5-2 3-2"></path><path d="M8 12c0 1.5 1.5 2 3 2"></path></g><defs><stop stop-color="#FEF2F2"></stop><stop offset="1" stop-color="#FEE2E2"></stop></defs></svg>

### Commercial HVAC Teams

Commercial HVAC controls are the core of nearly every building automation system. Get the alert the moment one faults, not the next morning.

<svg class="lucide lucide-access-control" fill="none" height="44" viewbox="0 0 44 44" width="44" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><rect fill="url(#paint0_linear_2404)" height="44" rx="8" width="44"></rect><g fill="none" stroke="#DC2626" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" stroke-width="2" transform="translate(10,10)"><rect height="14" rx="1" width="14" x="2" y="5"></rect><circle cx="6" cy="9" r="1.5"></circle><rect height="6" rx="0.5" width="4" x="18" y="13"></rect><path d="M19 13v-2a1 1 0 0 1 2 0v2"></path></g><defs><stop stop-color="#FEF2F2"></stop><stop offset="1" stop-color="#FEE2E2"></stop></defs></svg>

### Access Control and Security Systems

Building automation often integrates access control, CCTV, and lighting. Route those system alerts to the right person by text.

<svg class="lucide lucide-phone-call" fill="none" height="44" viewbox="0 0 44 44" width="44" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><rect fill="url(#paint0_linear_2405)" height="44" rx="8" width="44"></rect><g fill="none" stroke="#DC2626" stroke-linecap="round" stroke-linejoin="round" stroke-width="2" transform="translate(10,10)"><path d="M5 4a1.5 1.5 0 0 1 1.5-1h2.5l2 4-2 1.5a11 11 0 0 0 5.5 5.5l1.5-2 4 2v2.5a1.5 1.5 0 0 1-1.5 1.5A15 15 0 0 1 5 4z"></path><path d="M22 7a3.5 3.5 0 1 1-3.5-3.5 2.8 2.8 0 0 0 3.5 3.5z"></path></g><defs><stop stop-color="#FEF2F2"></stop><stop offset="1" stop-color="#FEE2E2"></stop></defs></svg>

### After-Hours On-Call Response

Make sure overnight and weekend alarms reach the person on rotation. SMS reaches phones directly when email goes unnoticed.

## Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions? We’ve got answers.

** Will this work with my existing building automation system?**

If your BAS or monitoring platform can send an email alert, it works with TextBolt. You do not replace or reconfigure the automation logic. You point its alert emails at the TextBolt gateway and authorize its sending address, and the alarms start arriving as text.

**Does my BAS need an API or special integration?**

No. TextBolt uses a standard email-to-SMS gateway, so any system that can send email can send alerts as text. There is no API to build against and no plugin to install on the BAS.

**How do I authorize a no-reply BAS address?**

Most building automation systems send from a no-reply or service address that cannot click an invite link. TextBolt has a one-click system sender option built for alarm panels, monitoring tools, and automation. You add the address and it is approved on the spot.

**How fast do alerts arrive?**

Texts are typically delivered within seconds of your building automation system sending the alert email, which is the entire reason teams move critical alarms off email and onto SMS.

**Can more than one technician get the same alert?**

Yes. Add a gateway recipient address for each technician who should receive the alarm, and every one of them gets the text at the same time. This is common for critical after-hours alerts where you want more than one person notified.

**What happens to the email subject line?**

By default TextBolt converts the email body into the text and does not include the subject line. If your BAS puts critical information in the subject, contact support to enable subject inclusion on your account.

**Can technicians reply to an alert text?**

Yes. When a technician receives an alert via SMS, they can reply by text to coordinate the response. Replies arrive in the shared dashboard inbox so the whole team sees the coordination.

**How does pricing work?**

TextBolt offers Basic, Standard, and Professional plans, each with a monthly credit allowance, plus multi-user access for up to 10 team members on Standard and Professional. Each text uses one credit per recipient, and one-time credit packs never expire. A dedicated toll-free number is an optional add-on.
