# Send Text Alerts from Your Genetec Access Control System

Security Center already emails you when a door is forced, a badge is denied, or a reader drops offline. TextBolt turns that same alert into a text on the on-call phone, instead of sending to your inbox.

The gap opens on the last step, when that email has to reach a person who is not at a screen.

![No native SMS](https://wp.textbolt.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Gmail-Has-No-Native-SMS-Feature-0c8cec.svg)Many teams still send door alerts to a legacy carrier gateway. [T-Mobile retired tmomail.net](https://textbolt.com/migration/tmobile2/) in December 2024, [AT&T retired txt.att.net](https://textbolt.com/migration/att/) in June 2025, and [Verizon retired vtext.com](https://textbolt.com/migration/verizon/) on March 31, 2027. These retired gateways fail without a bounce, so the rule looks fine and nobody gets the text.

![Gateways shut down](https://wp.textbolt.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Carrier-Gateways-Were-Never-Reliable-for-Business-75e97b.svg)Event-to-actions offer a Send an email action, and the message template can pull event fields such as a cardholder name into the alert text. There is no SMS equivalent in the core platform, on-premises or SaaS. Email is the outbound channel by design.

![Unreliable gateways](https://wp.textbolt.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Carrier-Email-to-SMS-Gateways-Have-Shut-Down-e16cac.svg)A residence hall or loading dock door forced at 2 AM sits in an inbox until a person opens their mail client. On a site with no overnight staff, that is often the next business day. The rule fired correctly, and the response was still twelve hours late.

![ Gmail Has No Native SMS Feature](https://wp.textbolt.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Gmail-Has-No-Native-SMS-Feature-0c8cec.svg)Genetec Mobile sends push alerts for alarms and events, but a mobile user is a Security Center user, governed by the same privileges and access rights as Security Desk. Facilities contractors, night custodians, lab managers, and building managers without an account and a license seat never receive them.

![Replies Disappear](https://wp.textbolt.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Frame-2-1-1b1254.svg)An access control unit or reader that drops offline overnight is usually discovered when staff arrive and cannot badge in. The event-to-action fired hours earlier. Nobody on the facilities team saw it because it went to a mailbox, not a phone.

![Fragmented teams](https://wp.textbolt.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Frame-2-3-9fb303.svg)With Security Center SaaS, alert emails may come from a Genetec system address rather than an email account your team controls. Any SMS tool that only accepts mail from your own domain will drop them. The gateway you use has to accept a system sender you have authorized.

TextBolt connects Security Center to a registered 10DLC business number using the Send an email action your event-to-actions already fire. Your access control deployment stays where it is and a text message channel gets added on top.

![Send SMS instantly](https://wp.textbolt.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Send-SMS-from-Gmail-Instantly-a64eee.svg)Add +15551234567@sendemailtotext.com to an event-to-action’s Send an email recipient list, using the on-call phone number. The next time a door is forced or a badge is denied, the alert arrives as a text within seconds. Nothing else in the rule changes.

![10DLC compliant](https://wp.textbolt.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/10DLC-Compliant-Business-Number-ecade4.svg)TextBolt registers your sender identity with The Campaign Registry during onboarding. Messages route through [carrier-approved 10DLC infrastructure](https://textbolt.com/blog/10dlc-compliance/) rather than retired email gateways, with up to 98% delivery rate* and automatic STOP keyword handling.

![Two-way replies](https://wp.textbolt.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Two-Way-Replies-to-Your-Gmail-Inbox-e2a1c9.svg)When an officer or technician replies to the alert, the response arrives as an email in the inbox the alert was sent from, with a timestamp and the responding number. The shift supervisor sees it, and anyone on the account can reply by sending another email.

![Multi-User Access](https://wp.textbolt.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Multi-user-up-to-10-one-shared-account-bb5d67.svg)Standard and Professional plans include up to 10 team members on one shared account. Security officers, facilities techs, dispatchers, and the Security Center admin all send and receive from the same business number, each with an individual login and no per-seat fees.

![Complete Audit Trail](https://wp.textbolt.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Complete-Audit-Trail-for-Every-SMS-2d3113.svg)Every message is logged with timestamp, sender, recipient number, and delivery status. Security Center keeps its own access event record, and TextBolt adds proof of whether the alert reached a phone. Export the log for incident review or compliance documentation.

![No code required](https://wp.textbolt.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/No-Apps-Script-No-Twilio-No-Code-bafc15.svg)TextBolt is email-based, not API-based. There is no SDK access to request, no connector to build, and no API keys to rotate. Security Center SaaS does not support plugin integrations at all, so the email path is the only no-code route to SMS on a cloud deployment.

Team Members on Shared Account

Hands-on configuration takes around 30 minutes. TextBolt handles 10DLC business verification in parallel, and carrier approval typically takes 24 to 48 hours. Your team cannot send until that approval clears.

**Create Your TextBolt Account**

Sign up with a work email at my.textbolt.com/signup. A card is required for verification, with no charge during the 7-day trial. Account creation takes about two minutes.

**Set Up Your Business Number**

Your account gets a dedicated business number that serves as the shared sender for all door and reader alerts.

**Complete 10DLC Business Verification**

Provide your business details during onboarding. TextBolt handles 10DLC registration with the carriers on your behalf, and approval typically completes within 24 to 48 hours.

**Authorize the Security Center Sending Address**

On-premises Security Center sends from the address set in Server Admin’s SMTP settings. On Security Center SaaS, send a test alert to your inbox to read the From address. In TextBolt, go to Co-workers, choose Invite co-worker, enter that address, and use Approve, since system addresses cannot click invites.

**Add the Gateway Address to a Door or Credential Event-to-Action**

Open the Automation task in the Config Tool or the Security Center SaaS web app, then click the Actions view. Select or create the rule for Door forced open or Access denied. Add +1[phone]@sendemailtotext.com to the Send an email recipient list. Trigger a test event and confirm the SMS arrives.

**Set a Schedule and Invite Your Team**

Use the Effective option on the event-to-action to limit texts to after-hours or weekends if you only need overnight coverage. Then add the on-call rotation, facilities coordinators, and the Security Center admin to the shared account (Standard and Professional plans) so coverage does not depend on one phone.

![How to Set Up Genetec SMS With TextBolt](https://wp.textbolt.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/How-to-Set-Up-Genetec-SMS-With-TextBolt-convert.io_.webp)Deliver Genetec Door and Badge Alerts as SMS

Use TextBolt to route Security Center access control emails to real text messages without changing your existing event-to-action workflow. No plugin, no SDK, and no new software.

[Start Free Trial![](https://wp.textbolt.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/arrow-white-5c9b5a.svg)](https://my.textbolt.com/signup/)Every path ends the same way: Security Center sends an email, TextBolt turns it into a text. What changes is where the rule lives and how much control you have over when it fires.

The direct path. In the Automation task, pick an event such as Door forced open, choose the door, set the action to Send an email, and add the TextBolt gateway address as a recipient. Add an Effective schedule to limit it to nights and weekends.

For alerts that need more than one trigger, build an automation instead. Automations combine events with AND or OR, require a sequence, and filter on event data like the cardholder. The response is the same Send an email action, so the gateway address goes in the same field.

For deployments under change control, or when you cannot touch the Security Center configuration, leave the rules alone. Set a filter in the inbox that already receives Genetec alerts, match on subject or sender, and forward matches to the gateway address. No Genetec access needed

Six settings where a door, reader, or credential event becomes a text on the phone of the person who needs to act.

**Campus Security**

Residence hall doors forced overnight reach the on-call officer directly instead of waiting in an inbox. Different buildings can route to different phones, and the officer’s reply lands back in the inbox the alert came from, so the shift supervisor sees the response without a separate app.

**Facilities and Building Operations**

A reader or controller going offline reaches a facilities tech the same evening rather than surfacing when staff arrive and find a building they cannot badge into. The tech does not need a Security Center account to receive the text.

**Multi-Building and Multi-Site Deployments**

Each event-to-action carries its own recipient list, so rules across an existing estate can route by building, by event type, or by shift. Overnight door alerts go to the roving officer while controller faults go to the facilities line, without a separate notification platform managing the split.

**Data Centers and Server Rooms**

Cage door and server room access events, plus controller faults, reach the [IT department](https://textbolt.com/industries/it-departments/) on call alongside the alerts already coming from monitoring tools. One channel for both, on the same phone.

**Labs and Restricted Research Areas**

After-hours access denied at a chemistry lab or animal facility reaches the lab manager within seconds. The text names the cardholder, so the manager knows whether it was a student with an expired badge or something that needs a call to security.

**Healthcare Facility Access Control**

Unauthorized access at a pharmacy, records room, or supply area reaches security immediately rather than at shift change. This covers physical access events and building logistics only. TextBolt should not carry patient information, and we recommend consulting your compliance team to confirm it fits your requirements.

Free, but ending

The historical workaround: point the Send an email action at a carrier address such as 5551234567@vtext.com. Two of the three major carriers have already shut down and the third has a fixed end date.

Recommended

Recommended. Flat monthly plan, no per-seat license

Use the Send an email action already configured in your event-to-actions. Add one recipient address in the format **+15551234567@sendemailtotext.com**, using the on-call phone number, and the alert becomes a text from your registered business number.

**Does the Security Center have a native Send an SMS action?**

No. Event-to-actions offer a Send an email action, and the message can include event fields such as a cardholder name, but there is no SMS equivalent. TextBolt does not add a plugin or change Security Center’s configuration. It converts the email that action already sends into a text.

**Which access control events can I turn into a text?**

Any event whose event-to-action uses the Send an email action. Door forced open, door held open, access denied, and unit offline are the ones security and facilities teams text on most. Open the Automation task to see the exact conditions configured on your deployment.

**Our event-to-action still points at a carrier gateway address. What replaced it?**

Carrier gateways were retired because they could not satisfy 10DLC and Campaign Registry rules. T-Mobile’s tmomail.net went offline in December 2024, AT&T’s txt.att.net closed in June 2025, and Verizon’s vtext.com shuts down by March 31, 2027. TextBolt is a direct swap. Replace the recipient address and the rule keeps working.

**Does this work with Security Center SaaS and access control as a service?**

Yes. Security Center SaaS builds event-to-actions the same way as on-premises, using the same Automation task and Send an email action. Check the From address on a test alert and approve it as a sender in TextBolt during setup, since it may not be your own domain.

**Does ClearID already cover this?**

Not for door and device events. ClearID sends SMS to hosts when visitors check in, tied to the visitor management workflow. It is a separately licensed product with messaging scoped to that use case, and it does not add SMS to a door forced, access denied, or reader offline event.

**What is the difference between Genetec Mobile push notifications and SMS via TextBolt?**

Genetec Mobile pushes alarms to licensed Security Center users who have the app installed and are signed in. TextBolt texts any mobile number. Use push for your operators. Use TextBolt when the alert needs to reach a contractor, custodian, or lab manager without a Genetec account.

**Do SMS replies write back into Security Center’s event log?**

No. Replies arrive as email in the inbox the alert was sent from, timestamped and attributed to the responding number, which gives you an auditable record of the exchange. Acknowledging or closing the alarm still happens in Security Desk or Security Center SaaS.

Turn Genetec Access Control Alerts into Texts Without Changing Anything Else

One email address in your event-to-action, and door alerts reach your team by text in about 30 minutes. No code, no SDK.
